Under Sea Card and Bookmark (Kathy Berger)

Under Sea Card and Bookmark
by Kathy Berger

My mom had a series of strokes last year. Her doctor recommended coloring as a form of therapy, and she now lives for coloring! When people visit her, she really wants them to color with her, too. She knows it is beneficial to her, so she wants to pass that benefit along to her loved ones.

I decided to bring my own coloring materials with me when I visited her. I grabbed my Ciao Copic markers and a clear Wink of Stella and a stack of images I stamped with various background stamps from Frantic Stamper. This is one of the images I colored with her. After coloring the image with Copics I added sheen to the fish and water with the Wink of Stella.

When I got back to my limited craft supplies at our house in Pennsylvania I decided to make a card and bookmark for her using the colored image. I thought she could save her place in her favorite coloring book with the bookmark. She had been using the last card I sent her for that.

I simply cut down the image into two pieces, one sized for a layer on a standard card, and the other cut narrow enough for me to be able to "laminate" it with clear packaging tape. After making the simple card I filled in the bubbles with clear glitter glue, adding some dimension and extra shine to the card. I wish I had had some sequins to use instead, but I think the card came out okay. What do you think?

The Sound of the Sea Card (Kate Dachovská)

The sound of the sea card
by Kate Dachovska

I hope you are having awesome day. For today I prepared very layered card with many die cuts because we all love die cutting.

I made card with Prima Marketing - French Riviera papers. I used several Frantic Stamper dies for the foreground of this project (FRA-DIE-10243 Sand dollar and jellyfish, FRA-DIE-10242 Lg Staghorn coral, and FRA-DIE-10240 Seaweed and anemone). For the background I also used a Frantic Stamper die (FRA-DIE 10169 Petal Frames).

Thanks for stopping by!

Modern Happy Birthday (Jen Carter)

Jen Carter Modern Happy Birthday Closeup 6

Modern Happy Birthday
by Jen Carter

Have you checked out the modern word die collection from Frantic Stamper?  I LOVE them! Below is the Modern Happy die which I am using on my card today.

This card was so simple to put together. I die cut the "happy" out of a piece of white cardstock that I had die cut using the Pinprick Rectangles Dies. I backed the die cut happy with striped patterned paper. The birthday was stamped with a sentiment from the Many Happy Birthdays stamp set.  The white panel is popped up with dimensional tape.

Thank you for stopping by!

Fabulous Florals (Kathy Berger)

Fabulous Florals
by Kathy Berger

The Fabulous Florals clear stamp set from FranticStamper has four different blooms and two leaves, each in two different sizes, and a set of dies designed to cut them.

The sets, though, might require a bit of explanation. Each of the flowers of the same size are drawn with the same outside lines, so they can all be cut out with a single die. The leaves of each size can also be cut with a single die. So that explains two flower dies and two leaf dies, but there are several more dies. "What are they for?", you might wonder. Well, they can be used to cut out the interior parts of the flowers so the parts an be layered to add depth and dimension. There are dies for the flowers centers as well as the petal layers inside the flower.

In my card I stamped a variety of blooms on my card and colored them. I then stamped 3 copies of each of the two larger flowers, and 2 of the smaller bloom, as well as a few leaves. I colored each of the images and then diecut the leaves and one of each bloom using the outline dies. I used the other floral dies to cut pieces to layer on the full bloom. I also cut those interior shapes out of thin black craft foam and used that between the layers of my flowers. Once I had my three layered flowers ready I attached them to my stamped and colored card base.

This set gives a lot of options for layering the flowers to make fun embellishments for any project!

Mermaid Card (Kathy Berger)

Undersea Fantasy
by Kathy Berger

When I was a child my family would spend a lot of time on the coast of New Brunswick, Canada. One our favorite passtimes while there was walking miles along a nearly deserted beach, laughing, playing games, and drawing pictures in the sand. One afternoon we walked and drew silly pictures, and we had such a wonderful time that it is permanently etched in my mind, and remembering the day never fails to bring a smile to my face and joy to my heart.

The subject of our drawing that day was the undersea fantasy creature the mermaid. We started off drawing just a mermaid sitting on a rock, much like the one on this card, but before long the silliness kicked into high gear! My brother added a small submarine to the first drawing, much like the submarine from this current release, but he added a bulging eyeball to the periscope. My mom then drew a clothes-line with mermaid tails in a variety of sizes pinned out to dry. Next came a pregnant mermaid knitting a tiny tail. Somewhere along the line there was a mermaid sitting on a toilet with her tail down around its base, like a pair of pants for a human. and the silliness lasted for hours. on our return trip down the beach we encountered another family walking along...or rather running along from drawing to drawing, laughing at our crazy doodles.

I made this card for my mom, who suffered a stroke last year, which has triggered an accelerating dementia. I know it is probably too much to hope for, but I pray that the card triggers the memory of that day, and the joy it brought us over the years as we remenisced together.

I hope that the card and the story behind its creation have given you a bit of happiness, too.

A Flight Without Limits (Jeanette Cloyd)

A Flight Without Limits
by Jeanette

Sometimes dies are just meant to be paired with one another. That's what I immediately thought about two of the dies in the Dads and Grads release - the Sky's the Limit die and the Soaring Paper Plane dies.

With graduations approaching, new jobs/careers to be launched, and many other reasons to encourage someone to dream big dreams, these dies are certain to be a huge success.

Under the Sea Bookmarks
by Karen Oliver

Have you seen the awesome Frantic Stamper 6 x 6 Background stamps. They are foam backed with cling mount, deep etched, rubber stamps and they are fantastic.  There are so many uses for these stamps other than creating your own wonderful backgrounds.  My Mum loves to colour so I have stamped some onto card for her to colour.  They are the perfect size for her to put on a lap tray to sit in front of the TV.

I work at a local primary school and needed an activity for the children to do as an end of term treat.  I stamped up some card using the background stamps and cut book marks for them to colour.  Each one is just slightly different due to the cutting which makes them more individualised.  They are going to absolutely love them.

Here's a picture of some of the stamped ones, ready to colour.  These use Wave Tangle, Under the Sea, and Flower Garden.  There are many more than these so pop to the store to take a look.
